General Questions

How often should I visit the dentist?

Most adults and children with healthy teeth and gums do best with a professional cleaning and checkup every six months. If you have periodontal disease, diabetes, or a history of frequent cavities, we may recommend visits every three to four months. Regular visits allow us to catch small issues — like early decay or gum inflammation — before they become expensive to treat.

Do you accept my dental insurance?

We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans and are in-network with many of them. We’ll also file claims on your behalf and help you understand your benefits before treatment starts. If you’re unsure whether we accept your plan, call us with your insurance information and we’ll verify coverage the same day. See our insurance page for the current list.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

We offer an in-office membership plan for uninsured patients that covers preventive care and gives you discounts on most other treatments. We also work with third-party financing partners so you can pay for larger procedures in monthly installments with no interest for qualified applicants. Visit our financing page for details.

Do you see children?

Yes. We see patients of every age, from a child’s first visit around age one through senior care. Our team is patient with young children and works to make each visit calm and positive.

Appointments & Emergencies

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can call our office directly, or use the contact form on our website to request a time. New patient appointments typically last 60–90 minutes so we can complete a full exam, X-rays, and cleaning in one visit.

Do you see dental emergencies?

Yes. If you have severe pain, a knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth, or facial swelling, call us right away. We reserve same-day slots for emergencies whenever possible. For after-hours emergencies, see our emergency dental care page for what to do until we can see you.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of any medications you take, and any recent dental X-rays if you have them. Arriving 10 minutes early lets us complete paperwork without cutting into your appointment time.

Treatment Questions

Are dental X-rays safe?

Modern digital dental X-rays use very low radiation — far less than a cross-country flight or a day in the sun. We use lead aprons and thyroid collars for extra protection, and we only take X-rays when they’re clinically necessary. If you’re pregnant, please let us know before any X-rays.

Will my treatment hurt?

Most modern dental procedures are more comfortable than patients expect. We use effective local anesthetic and offer sedation dentistry for patients with dental anxiety or those undergoing longer procedures. Tell us at the start of your visit if you’re nervous — we adjust our approach based on how you’re feeling.

How long does a filling, crown, or root canal take?

A simple filling usually takes 30–60 minutes. A crown typically requires two visits about two weeks apart. A root canal is completed in one to two visits and takes 60–90 minutes per visit. We’ll always give you an accurate time estimate before treatment starts.

How white can teeth whitening make my smile?

Professional whitening can lighten teeth by three to eight shades depending on the type of staining. In-office whitening produces immediate results in about an hour; take-home trays work more gradually over one to two weeks. Whitening does not change the color of crowns, veneers, or fillings.

After Your Visit

What should I do after my procedure?

We provide written post-op instructions for every procedure, and you can find them anytime on our Post-Op Instructions page. Follow the instructions carefully for the first 24–48 hours — that’s when most complications happen, and they’re almost always preventable.

When should I call the office after treatment?

Call us if you have pain that isn’t controlled by over-the-counter medication, bleeding that doesn’t stop within a few hours, fever above 101°F, swelling that gets worse instead of better after 48 hours, or a filling or crown that falls out. Better to call and find out it’s normal than to wait and let something small become a big problem.
